Kick Sale: Don't Buy Laneys

Much of the sneaker world is ready for the "Laney" Jordan V release, but there are some things you should consider before you make the decision to drop the $170 on a pair.

1. $170 Price Tag

The price of retro Jordans continues to rise, but are you getting any more for your money? No. Why pay more for the same?

2. Retro V

How many Jordan Retro V do you have in your collection? How many Retro V have you bought in the past 9 months? Do you really nees anymore?

3. Quality

Look back on the recent Retro V that you've purchased; how was the quality? Was the leather so thin and stiff that it almost creased while you were lacing them up? Some people might be saying "but these are tumbled leather so it's going to be better." Take a look at these deadstock, in-store, pictures and tell me that the quality is better.

4. Change

Original Laney Heel

2012 Laney Heel

This iteration of the "Laney" Retro V isn't even a true retro of the original because the Jumpman on the back is different.  The original Laney had a blue Jumpman and the 2013 edition has a black Jumpman. The difference may not bother the new 'heads but I know it will some of the older ones.

5. Hype

In my city I'm guessing that the lines will start around 5pm Friday night, and the stores normally open at 8am on release days. The release on the Laneys is expected to be $220-250. If you're buying to resale you're making $4.33 max per hour, & if you're keeping them you're saving $35 for a warm night's sleep. Just think about all the better options that are out there rather than sitting in a folding chair, in the cold, listening to all the Kobe v. LeBron v. KD arguments for 15 hours.

  1. All valid points. Which is why I had to move away from JB all together. Runner game is where it's at for $ and quality!!!!
